Paula McFarland

Paula McFarland has been birding for eight years, focusing most of her birding time at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge in Newburyport and just over the border at her own "refuge" in Newton, NH. She admits "I'm almost always birding." Paula became more involved with birding after attending her first Newburyport Birders' program several years ago.

Paula enjoys all aspects of birding, especially seeing the unexpected and looks forward to spring migration every year. She is a member of several birding organizations and joined Newburyport Birders' staff in June of 2005.

Dot Sevigny

Dot Sevigny has been working with Newburyport Birders since 2003 on an administrative level. As a young child, Dot was introduced to birding by her parents who were avid birders. Early memories of birding include warbler fall-outs in her yard in Manchester, MA, and a week-long backyard visit from a Ross's Gull in 1976.

With the seed planted by her parents, Dot's birding interest really started to grow about 18 years ago with a fascination with raptors. Songbirds grab most of her interest these days. Passing on her love of the outdoors to her two children.

Dot resides in South Hampton, New Hampshire, and is the assistant to the Executive Director of the New Hampshire SPCA in Stratham. Dot does most of her birding right in her own back yard and has a yard list of 56 species. She belongs to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, New Hampshire Audubon, Massachusetts Audubon and the National Wildlife Federation.
